STAB’s 2025 EAST Surfboard Test featuring Mikey February premiered last Wednesday to a packed house at Aviator Dreamland.

Formerly known as the “Electric Acid Surfboard Test”, the series featured a legendary list of shapers and 17 different crafts that Mikey put through the paces in Australia, California, and Hawaii.

Basically the superbowl for chronically online alternative surfers, which fortunately, there seems to be quite a handful of.

Although we’ve been steadfast supporters of every production in the past, this year’s EAST was specifically special to us as we had two members of our family in the final running, Tom Morat and Ellis Erricson.

Tom Morat stepped into the ring with the “Fender Two”, a 5’9 twin with a channeled out bottom, that truly looks like the most fun you’ll ever have. Ellis Erricson entered with an iteration of his “Lite Kite” model, a 6’1 edge bottomed quad, that immediately had Mikey pleasantly surprised and even found a second wind after snapping in half during the Australian leg.

With speakers blaring and lights flashing like homecoming court, Ellis and Tom stood side by side taking home first and second place, with Ellis’ “Lite Kite” inevitably stealing Mr. February’s heart.

The room gleamed as Ellis craftsmanship was shown forth on stage, all while Tom’s order emails piled up by the minute, and Alex Knost allegedly rambled about jiving on our boards, but most importantly each other.

Huge congratulations to both Ellis and Tom, beyond stoked to be working on some special projects with both of these lads, so keep ‘em peeled!
