Just the Surfing with Ellis Ericson
For the Love of Surfboards
We make fins, but in order to make good fins, you kind of need to love surfboards. And if you love surfboards, then you likely really enjoy surfboard shapers. We really love surfboards, and we enjoy surfboard shapers. And since we work so closely, with so many of them, we thought it would be fun to start a Fireside Chats series where we go surfing, and then have a long form, intimate chat about the journey of building surfboards, surfboard design, and of course, fins!
For the Love of Surfing
It felt important that surfing be a requirement of the conversation. Getting wet, sharing a lineup, riding waves, parking lot conversations, are great primers for having a long form discussion about surfboards and surfing.
Long term, these surfs may be great, they may be terrible, but were here to share the rawness of the surf journey, and how equipment preforms in all types of conditions. This session with Ellis Ericson and Troy Mothershead was a bit of a grovel, but there was some punch and occasional flow when the right wave came around.
What They Rode
Ellis and Troy are riding Lite Kites. The smaller a spicy little 5'6" and the larger a more stretched out 6'2". These boards feature a chine and concave with four fins, riding the new Feathers Quad.
