This fin was designed by the Campbell brothers to specifically pair with their Bonzer surfboards in order to complement the unique bottom contours and fin setups of their 3 and 5 fin designs.

The Bonzer concept dates back to 1970 when brothers Malcolm and Duncan Campbell took action on their desire to ride shortboards in good sized surf, without the limitations that came along with the single fin and twin fin designs of the day. With a little inspiration from their dad, the Campbell brothers created the first standardized tri-fin surfboard… The Bonzer 3. Later, in 1982 the 5 fin Bonzer was born, presenting another massive shift in design and performance potential.

Our roots are deeply entangled with the Campbell brothers, as they were some of our original clients back when True Ames’ shop was just getting started - and we're grateful to still be working alongside each other to this day! While we have all undoubtedly evolved since then, the Campbell brothers’ fin and bottom design systems live on through the decades and continually compete toe-to-toe with modern day surfboard concepts.

The Bonzer center fin works synergistically with the additional runners to efficiently organize water flow across the bottom of the surfboard, resulting in a highly optimal transfer of energy. If you have a Bonzer board, then this fin is the official prescription prescribed by the Campbell brothers to fix it up for maximum performance.
